Job Title : Controls Engineer 4 (ISO 19014 Functional Safety Engineer)

Position Overview :

Caterpillar's Resource Industry Operations & Products (RIOP) Performance & Controls team is seeking a highly skilled ISO 19014 Functional Safety Engineer . In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety and reliability of Caterpillar's Resources Industries (RI) machine models. Your expertise in ISO 19014 functional safety standards will be instrumental in maintaining the highest safety standards for our products. You will conduct safety and risk analysis, develop safety concepts, and collaborate across multiple teams to ensure compliance with industry safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities :

• Perform Machine Controls System Safety Assessment (MCSSA) , Bowtie, and other risk analysis activities with product groups and compliance experts.
• Manage and update MCSSA contents to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and annual product refresh activities.
• Facilitate the development and updating of Safety Concepts for safety controls functions in collaboration with performance, controls, and electronics engineers.
• Utilize Safety Integrity Software Tool for the Evaluation of Machine Application (SISTEMA) to validate that all safety control functions meet ISO 19014 performance levels.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards throughout the product development lifecycle .
• Create and update functional safety letters to meet product launch and customer delivery timelines.
• Document and promote best practices in functional safety execution to improve process efficiency.
• Guide RIOP product teams in executing functional safety activities based on efficient and proven processes.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in functional safety standards and control function advancements .
• Track and manage project execution using Azure DevOps dashboards .
