Grantmakers for Southern Progress (GSP) is a membership-based network of philanthropic leaders, practitioners, and individuals dedicated to leveraging resources for structural change in the South.
Our mission is to prioritize philanthropic giving and practice in the South on equity-focused structural change. This equity centered philanthropic giving will strengthen the organizational infrastructure and power building within Southern communities, significantly increasing racial, gender, and economic outcomes for people across the South.
We envision a growing network of philanthropic organizations and actors who fund across a spectrum of tools and strategies to increase investments in organizations that are led by people of color seeking to build political power, economic opportunity and social inclusion. GSP is a network that works towards establishing an accountable relationship between philanthropy and directly affected communities. Therefore, we encourage and support our members to listen and work with social movements and organizations working for racial, economic, and gender justice.
To carry out this vision GSP has prioritized the following goals :
- Increase participation in GSP network by 20%, with special focus on foundations and donors based organizations in the South.
- Increase visibility, awareness, and connection to organizations leading change work in the region through strategic communications and convenings
- Transform and increase philanthropic giving and practices to black-led, power building, queer, trans, women led work.
- Strengthen and increase critical infrastructure in the South by increasing the amount of funds dedicated to movement infrastructure.
- Increase intentional collaboration, alignment, and coordination of investments between Southern and National funders to accelerate equity.
- Increase capacity building opportunities within the sector to advance intersectional grant-making and grantmaking with a racial equity lens to support the transformation of southern communities by addressing racial, gender, and economic equity.
Position Summary
The Membership Manager will play a critical role in the organization's daily operations. The primary function of this position is to recruit and engage members that espouse the vision and core values of GSP. This position will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the organization's relationship with its members, while ensuring there is consistent and reliable communication that enables the network to achieve its mission. In partnership with the director and steering committee, you will build the organizational infrastructure to support their development as funders committed to racial and gender equity and funding structural change work in the South.

Member Recruitment, and Retention
Execute the recruitment plan for new membersConvert existing members to dues paying membersOversee and manage the application process, on-boarding, orientation, and renewal process for membersIdentify prospective members, attendees, and partners; support outreach to theseaudiences and manage relationships accordinglyEngage members to ensure their participation,satisfaction of programming, and maximize their ability to fund the SouthMember Engagement, Learning, and Action
Increase participation and engagement of southern funders.Work with steering and program committee to design and execute membership-wide events, including meetings, webinars, conference calls, working groups, and other relationship and network-building activities.Serve as a point of contact for members and be well-informed of their interests, activities, challenges, and work.Work with the Director to identify opportunities to amplify members' workServe as a hub for the GSP team by ensuring alignment / cohesion between various streams of programmatic and member-serving workProvide planning support for programming organized for members. To include, but not limited to, the bi-annual convening, funder briefings, strategy sessions, and learning tours.Member Records and Data
Maintain and update member database, ensuring database information is accurate and up to date at all timesRetrieve, synthesize and analyze data and information about the membership and grantees to aid staff and board members in development of program goals and strategyPrepare monthly and annual reports to track organizational progress towards membership and data goalsOther Duties
