Special Information : This position is an on-site position which requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are rare. Driving high occupancy or CDL class vehicles between campus locations is a required job activity. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become authorized by submitting Driver's license information for driving record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level of driving performed. The law applies to all faculty, staff, and students who drive personal or university-owned motorized vehicles for any business purpose. About the Department / College : The NAU Shuttle Department provides fast, reliable, and accessible transportation across campus, helping students, faculty, staff, and visitors get where they need to go safely and efficiently. During the academic year, we operate two daytime routes-Louie and Jacks-and an evening route, AXELite, ensuring convenient service from morning through night. Our professional drivers and support staff are dedicated to excellent customer service and safety. The team works closely with university departments and local transportation agencies to keep campus traffic flowing smoothly. About the Position : The Shuttle Department Supervisor oversees daily operations, staffing, and maintenance to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transportation across campus.
Responsibilities Include :
- 30% - Administrative and Operations
- Organizes and archives records and documents.
- Manages daily, weekly and monthly updates to schedules for driver's routes and shifts.
- Van class registrations and class training scheduling CDLE communication and documentation.
- Assists with CDL Training program and Van Class
- Assists in department planning and goal setting as requested.
- Coordinates daily shuttle operations such as; work priorities; provides input into employment performance feedback and provide general support for campus shuttle employees.
- Small repairs as needed to maintain the shuttle department fleet.
- Fulfills duties of Bus Driver when needed.
- 30% - Supervises
- Ensure Shuttle staff adheres to university policy and procedures.
- Support internal Staff to maintain performance and professional conduct.
- Coordinates daily shuttle operations.
- Makes recommendations for additions or modifications to university supported shuttle services and areas of development related to campus shuttle functions.
- Serves as a liaison to the campus community and resolves issues in a timely manner.
- Responds to calls for service and supervises shuttle staff on performance and conduct.
- Understands and applies knowledge of appropriate handling of university shuttle information.
- 20% - Staffing
- Assists with the recruitment and interview process for prospective employees.
- Coordinates onboarding procedures for new departmental staff.
- Supports recruitment efforts to attract qualified candidates.
- Promotes staff accountability through clear documentation and consistent communication.
- 15% - Data Monitoring
- Monitors and updates campus shuttle data to ensure access to accurate and timely information.
- Report important findings to leadership team and staff.
- 5% - Other
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in related field.1 years of management or supervisory experience required.1 years of relevant experience.Possession of a valid Arizona Class D driver's license.Possession of a valid Commercial driver's license (CDL), Class B or Class C.Note : Possession of a valid Commercial driver's license (CDL), Class B or Class C is not required if the vehicle transports 1-15 passengers.A combination of related education, experience, and training may be used as an equivalent to the above Minimum Qualifications.Preferred Qualifications :
Master's degree or PhD in related field.3 years of management or supervisory experience required.3 years of relevant experience.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :
Knowledge - Expert knowledge of tools, processes, and policies of campus shuttle operations.Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
