Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer with strong expertise in cloud-native databases, ETL / ELT pipelines, and data platform optimization. The ideal candidate will support the modernization, maintenance, and performance tuning of cloud-based data warehouses, data marts, and enterprise data platforms. This role is hands-on, with a focus on database performance, Airflow orchestration, and secure, reliable data pipeline engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and optimize cloud databases such as AWS RDS Oracle, Aurora, Postgres , and Snowflake .

Monitor and tune query performance , compute scaling, storage utilization, and system reliability.

Implement backup strategies , PITR, cross-region replication, encryption, access controls, and auditing.

Lead schema migrations and develop ETL / ELT data pipelines using modern cloud tools.

Re-engineer and migrate legacy SSIS ETL workflows to SQL-based solutions orchestrated via Apache Airflow .

Design and maintain Airflow DAGs , scheduling frameworks, and dependency management structures.

Conduct performance benchmarking, troubleshooting, and unit testing of migrated ELT / ETL code.

Maintain code repositories using GitHub and track work using Jira .

Required Skills

Hands-on experience with Oracle RDS and AWS services such as S3, MWAA (Managed Airflow), and DMS .

Strong expertise in SQL and translating PL / SQL into Snowflake or other SQL platforms.

Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts : facts, dimensions, SCDs, normalization.

Experience with Change Data Capture (CDC) frameworks.

Familiarity with common data formats : JSON, XML, CSV .

Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, or Bash .

Preferred Qualifications

Experience configuring and managing Apache Airflow at scale.

Knowledge of advanced Snowflake features such as Snowpipe, RBAC, cloning, and time travel.

Prior experience in large organizations or government environments .

Domain expertise in education or student information systems .
