equirements :
- Minimum 3 years of veterinary technician experience
- RVT license preferred
- Knowledge of veterinary medicine and terminology
- Ability to communicate calmly, clearly, and effectively with both staff and clients
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Strong attention to detail and follow through
- Ability to handle high stress situations
- Knowledge of vital signs and when to alert a doctor regarding patient status.
Essential Job Duties :
- Ability to perform veterinary technician duties. Including but not limited to : venipuncture, IV catheter placement, basic drug calculations, fluids and CRIs, radiology.
- Obtain and run / process lab samples.
- Monitoring and treatment of critical patients
- Providing critical care and treatments to hospitalized pets
- Understanding of isolation protocols
- Monitoring anesthesia
- Assisting veterinarians with exams, procedures and ultrasounds.
- Knowledge of how to set up various emergency procedures (laceration repairs, unblocking, taps, etc.).
- Restraint of both dogs and cats
- Comfortable with IV / IM / SQ injections
- Urine collection via cystocentesis (K9 and feline)
- Stocking and cleaning
- Willing to learn how to run CT
