Overview
The US Head of Middle Office is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all middle office functions, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and strategic alignment with the firm’s investment objectives. This role acts as a key liaison between the front office and back office, and plays a critical role in risk management, trade oversight, and process optimization across both public and private markets.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategy : In conjunction with the Global Head of Investment Operations and the EMEA Head of Middle Office, defines and implements the US operating model and alignment to the global target operating model.
- Develop and execute plan to deliver strategic objectives of L&G in accordance with Operating Principles and Values of the firm.
- Establish objectives of the team and prioritize change required to support the delivery of those objectives.
- Deliver appropriate staff resourcing and ensure employee engagement, retention, and succession plans are in place. Promote learning and development of team members.
- Ensure operational dependencies for client and product growth in L&G AM America are delivered successfully while minimizing risk to the business (working with global leads where appropriate)
- Governance & Risk Management : Represent Investment Operations in risk, operational, valuation, client and consultant due diligence visits.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Act as senior escalation for the oversight of Investment Operations third party relationship.
- Manage oversight relationship with vendors (outsourcing, custodians, brokers)
- Responsible for timely resolution of client escalations and issue management.
- Represent Investment Operations on regional advisory boards, external working groups, panel discussions etc. as appropriate.
- Technology, Data & Process Improvement : Direct the activities of US Middle Office in a way that promotes continuous improvement and increased efficiency, risk reduction, highest quality output, and accountability at every level.
- Remain informed on industry developments for investment technology and regulatory developments and formulate action plans to respond.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred but not required.10+ years of experience in middle office or operations within asset management, investment banking or hedge funds.Strategic Thinking : Ability to align middle office operations with broader business goals and anticipate future needs. Proven experience managing teams and cross-functional programs, establishing partnerships across regions and managing legal entities across jurisdictions.Talent Development : Mentors and develops team members, builds succession plans, and fosters a high-performance culture.Communication & Executive Presence : Communicates clearly and confidently with senior stakeholders, including board-level executives. Experience with automation, machine learning, predictive analytics, and broader Ai tools.Operational Excellence : Champions continuous improvement, automation, and process optimization.Data driven. Experience developing KPI, KRI and management metrics. Exposure to enterprise data management solutions.Salary Range
$160,000 to $200,000
The starting salary offer will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s education, job-related experience, skills, and abilities, geographic location, and market factors. This position is also eligible to participate in the company’s annual discretionary bonus plan.
