We are seeking an enthusiastic, scientifically curious research associate to join the lab of Dr. Paulina Pawlica at ISMMS in NYC.
In the Pawlica lab, we use a combination of RNA biochemistry, bioinformatics, and molecular virology to explore RNA-centric virus-host interactions (more @ ).
The Pawlica lab is generously funded by a start-up package and an R35 grant from the NIH. The Department of Microbiology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine is a leader in viral research, providing an inspiring and collaborative environment.
The ideal candidate is an organized, technically skilled individual who will be responsible for performing experiments (leading an independent project) and helping to manage the laboratory.
This would be an excellent role for a recent college graduate who desires to gain additional years of hands-on research experience before pursuing graduate school.
Principal Responsibilities :
- Perform routine molecular biology and cell culture techniques .
- Perform independent research under supervision.
- Help with lab organization and other support duties relating to lab operations, as required.
Qualifications :
- A bachelor’s degree in biology or a related discipline is required.
- Minimum of 1 year hands-on laboratory experience is required (i.e. PCR, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, etc.). Please note that taking a class is not counted as hands-on experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
