Position Title : Laboratory Technician

Location : Johnston, IA 50131

Expected Duration : 6 months.

Estimated Start Date : 6 / 4 / 2024.

Pay Rate : $ 21.50 / hr.

Driving Required : Occasional

Job Description :

• With guidance from supervisor, assists technical personnel in general laboratory and greenhouse operations in handling tasks in support of scientific research.
• Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group.
• Assist in the execution of plant sample tissue collection in the field and greenhouse.
• Prepare and process tissue samples (Lyophilize tissue, weighing of lyophilized tissues, cleaning of equipment, lab organization, inventory etc).
• Supports submission of tissue samples for analysis.
• Assist in maintaining database for tissue sample tracking.
• Assist in communicating with research personnel, expression laboratories, and field teams.
• Work with Greenhouse lead and assist weekly greenhouse activities (Tissue sampling and submission, cleaning, plant movement and organization).
• Supports assay lead in insect assay / experiments and data collection.
• Assist lead in conducting laboratory and greenhouse assay experiments, assay development and assay optimization.
• Provide support in weekly assays / experiments perform in laboratory.
• Coordinate with team leads in weekly planning and execution of assays and laboratory works (cleaning, maintenance, etc).
