Overview

High School Level American Literature Tutor role at Varsity Tutors, a Nerdy Company. The Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform connects thousands of students with online tutors nationwide. As a tutor on the platform, you’ll have the flexibility to set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and make a real impact on students’ learning journeys—from your home.

Responsibilities

Tutor remotely using the Live Learning Platform (no commuting required).
Provide 1-on-1 online tutoring to individual students, tailoring instruction to their needs.
Accept on-demand tutoring requests and connect with students best-suited to your teaching style and expertise.
Utilize tools such as the AI-powered Tutor Copilot to assist with real-time instructional support, lesson generation, and engagement features.
Invoice for tutoring sessions; the platform handles payments and logistics.

What We Look For In a Tutor

Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.

Expertise in High School Level American Literature and the ability to explain concepts clearly.

Ability to personalize lessons and adapt to different learning styles.

Priority given to those with tutoring experience, teaching experience, and graduate-level education.

Compensation and Scheduling

Base contract rates start at $18 / hour and increase for specialized subjects. You can earn up to $40 / hour with the same student over time.

Get paid up to twice per week for tutoring sessions you conduct and invoice.

Set your own hours and tutor as much as you’d like.

Our platform handles logistics; you invoice for sessions and we handle payments.

Please note : Varsity Tutors does not contract with tutors in Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, or Puerto Rico. Additionally, there are locations where contracts are not available.
