Crisis Non-Police Response Clinician (C3RT)

The Crisis Non-Police Response Clinician responds directly to 911 and other police dispatch calls for individuals believed to be experiencing a non-violent behavioral health crisis in the St.

Louis area. Without police presence and along with another BHR team member, the C-NPR Clinician will partner with law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and community organizations to provide effective and appropriate crisis intervention services including crisis assessment and referral services, behavioral health education and support, brief solution-focused treatment, de-escalation, mental health first aid, connecting community members with follow-up services, and transport when needed.

Responsibilities :

  • Ride with a BHR teammate to respond to 911 calls and / or community encounters with individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
  • Conduct face-to-face, high quality clinical triage assessments of individuals in crisis.
  • Develop an individualized, comprehensive treatment plan to assist the client in establishing necessary mental health services including provisional diagnosis and thorough suicide risk assessment.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to ensure the safety of the client and the community as a whole.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with law enforcement and other community stakeholders.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of the St. Louis Area Mental Health Network, the Crisis Intervention Model, and the DSM-V.
  • Minimum of six months experience in mental health field within the private or public sector.
  • Ability to write clinical documentation, conduct mental health assessments and develop client treatment plans.
  • Must work well individually and with co-workers as part of a team.
  • Must be flexible with work hours and available to work at least 1 weekend day. Work weeks are Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday.
  • Valid driver's license (MO Class E or state equivalent). Motor Vehicle Record check will be conducted prior to start date.
  • Willingness to meet any / all regulatory requirements of our partners, including vaccinations and background checks.

Work Environment :

  • Requires riding in / driving a car for extended periods of time.
  • Hybrid position with the majority of the time spent in the field, throughout the St. Louis area, at a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, community centers, and other locations where individuals in crisis may be present.
  • At times, the work environment can be high-stress and include potentially dangerous situations.
