Environmental Health & Safety Compliance Program Manager

Picture your day at our Texas production facility : you start on the floor, greeting operators as you spot-check machine guarding, then step into a cross-functional huddle with operations and engineering to prioritize risk-reducing upgrades. Midday you connect with our California-based EHS Officer to align on companywide initiatives, and by afternoon you are finalizing a Hazardous Materials Business Plan update and preparing training content for a new contractor orientation. You close the day with a debrief from the Safety Committee, turning near-miss insights into corrective actions.

What You Will Lead

  • Own the lifecycle of EHS programs—design, implement, measure, and continuously improve—so the site remains safe, compliant, and efficient.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA / TCEQ, DOT, and related federal, state, and local requirements; translate regulations into clear procedures.
  • Run scheduled audits, inspections, and risk assessments; track findings through to closure and verify effectiveness.
  • Oversee hazardous materials and hazardous waste programs, including reporting, handling, and timely Hazardous Materials Business Plan updates.
  • Maintain permits and certifications; steward ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems and prepare the site for internal and external audits.
  • Chair the site Safety Committee and cultivate broad employee participation in EHS improvements.
  • Deliver engaging EHS training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Share lessons learned across sites and collaborate with HQ to align companywide EHS strategy.
  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations using tools such as fishbone (Ishikawa) and 5-Whys; drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform JHA / JSA evaluations of equipment and processes; partner with production and engineering to implement controls.
  • Specify, provision, and manage PPE; ensure proper availability, training, and use.
  • Support quality initiatives that intersect with ISO standards.
  • Model good housekeeping and regulatory compliance across office and manufacturing areas.

Minimum QualificationsEducation & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (environmental sciences, occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, etc.). A combination of education, certifications, and / or experience may be considered.
  • Relevant certifications strongly desired : CSP, CIH, CHMM, OSHA-30, HAZWOPER.
  • 3–5 years in a comparable EHS role; high-volume manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 is highly desired; Auditor or Lead Auditor credentials preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of OSHA, EPA / TCEQ, DOT, and applicable local regulations.
  • Clear written and verbal communicator; Spanish language skills are a plus.
  • Strong technical writing for reports, policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Move seamlessly between office and production environments across the site.
  • Frequent computer work with periods of stationary activity.
  • Regular transitions between desk and production areas to collaborate and perform observations.
  • Exposure to elevated noise, moving mechanical parts, nuisance dust, and hazardous materials used in manufacturing processes.
  • Periodic work from stairs, ladders, platforms, and other elevated or constrained locations.
  • PPE is provided and must be worn as required.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds independently and over 50 pounds with assistance on occasion.
