Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details Location : Springfield, IL 62781 Assignment Type : Travel Registered Nurse (RN) Unit : Cardiac Stepdown / Intermediate Care (IMC) Start Date : November 17, 2025 End Date : February 16, 2026 Contract Duration : 13 weeks Estimated Weekly Pay : $1890 - $1940 Hours per Week : 36 Shift : 12-hour days (06 : 45 - 19 : 15); 3x12 or 4x12 per week available Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend Patient Ratio : 1 : 4 Charting System : Cerner (EMR experience preferred) Scrub Color : Any solid color Parking : Free with permit Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Illinois RN license required Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Cardiac Stepdown, Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown nursing BLS and NIHSS certifications required (AHA or Red Cross) ACLS certification preferred Prior travel nursing experience required Experience with Cerner electronic medical records preferred Level I Trauma Center experience preferred Must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays if assignment spans holiday period Ability to float within scope to other nursing units as needed Cardiac Stepdown Nurse Responsibilities Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients in a fast-paced Cardiac Stepdown / IMC unit Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms; manage dysrhythmias and respond to cardiac emergencies Care for patients before and after cardiac procedures, including angiograms, cardiac catheterization, and cardiac surgery Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips per hospital protocols Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and manage central, arterial, and PICC lines Provide care for ventilated patients, tracheostomies, and respiratory support equipment Manage feeding tubes, wound care, and infection control / isolation precautions Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, social services, rapid response teams) Float to other nursing units within scope as needed Maintain accurate documentation and participate in patient and family education Apply now to join our Springfield healthcare team and discover rewarding travel nursing jobs in Illinois!
