Compensation Overview : The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards. Salary Range $60,800.00 - $100,300.00.
What Is The Opportunity?
Travelers' accounting team serves as the steward of our financial information and controls to ensure compliance with all internal policies and external requirements. The team creates transparency about the health of the company by providing timely, accurate, and actionable information to all stakeholders. As a Staff Accountant, Business Insurance Financial Controls you will support financial and accounting activities across assigned business areas. You will contribute to team efforts working to advance organizational objectives aligned with enterprise goals and help ensure accurate financial reporting. Leveraging your analytical skills and attention to detail, you will build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders. You are a detail-oriented professional who understands how accurate financial data supports informed business decisions.
What Will You Do?
Compile and review financial data for reporting and accuracy. Prepare, evaluate, and support the creation of analyses to support financial / business plans, budget, and forecasts. Prepare, evaluate, and complete components for internal management based financial reporting, consistent results with corporate policies and standards. Prepare, evaluate, and complete components of external financial statements which may include GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SEC and STAT (Statutory Accounting Principles). Support second line of defense activities including control design, implementation, and monitoring; conduct supplier management assessments and vendor reviews; oversee quality assurance for account reconciliations and financial processes; and ensure compliance with records retention and cybersecurity policies. Document workflows with control points, support corrective action plan closure, develop visual processes and reports for senior leadership, and build relationships across Business Insurance markets through job shadowing and cross-functional partnerships to enhance control effectiveness and career development. Perform other duties as assigned.
What Is A Must Have?
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
