Accounts Payable (AP) Process Integration Contractor

Role Overview
Seeking an Accounts Payable (AP) Process Integration Contractor with deep expertise in U.S. AP operations to lead the harmonization of finance processes across the U.S. and Canada. This SME will represent U.S. requirements in cross-border integration discussions, ensuring compliance, alignment, and continuity throughout the transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as U.S. AP subject matter expert , ensuring U.S. requirements, policies, and practices are represented in integration efforts.
- Partner with Canadian AP teams and Finance leadership to identify process differences, dependencies, and standardization opportunities .
- Assess and recommend improvements to AP workflows, controls, and technologies (invoice intake, matching, approvals, payments, reporting).
- Ensure compliance with federal / state regulations, 1099 reporting, sales / use tax , and internal controls.
- Support gap analysis, documentation, and future-state design for the integrated AP function.
- Liaise with Finance, Procurement, IT, and cross-functional stakeholders to align AP systems and ERP / banking integrations.
- Contribute to change management, training, and communication for smooth adoption of new processes.
- Track integration progress, escalate risks, and recommend mitigation strategies to safeguard business continuity.
Qualifications
5+ years in Accounts Payable operations with strong U.S. AP process and compliance knowledge.Prior consulting, integration, or finance transformation experience (shared services, ERP / AP implementations, or cross-border finance projects).Familiarity with AP / ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday Financials, Coupa preferred).Strong process analysis and documentation skills with structured problem-solving ability.Proven stakeholder management and facilitation skills ; experience representing regional needs in global settings.Exposure to U.S. / Canada or North American regional finance environments preferred.
