Brief Description of Duties
The University of the District of Columbia is a public land grant institution of higher learning dedicated to providing quality, career focused undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and credentials needed to launch, enhance, or change careers.
The Adjunct Faculty is a member of the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AASN) program and is responsible for clinical portion.
The individual reports to the Director of Nursing. All core courses are held at the UDC-CC main location, North Capitol Street NE.
However, there may be times the individual is expected to teach at more than one location.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides laboratory and clinical instruction.
- Teaches assigned clinical as specified in the schedule and course contract.
- Recruits, advises and assists with the retention of students; answers student inquiries (emails) in a timely manner.
- Engages in scholarly activities and community services.
- Teaches clinical during the day, evening, and / or weekend; may include more than one campus site.
- Attends all meetings, ceremonies, and official functions as specified by the Chief Academic Officer, Chief Community College Officer and / or Dean.
- Attends one or more orientation session(s) to become familiar with the Institution’s mission and teaching philosophy, policies, and procedures and the learning management system.
- Adheres to and fulfills all ACEN standards; also assists in the development of an effective means of assessing student learning outcomes in accordance with ACEN standards
- Adheres to University policies and guideline in all matters concerning academics, student and staff conduct.
Minimum Job Requirement
- Masters Degree in Nursing with a clinical focus in Adult Health and / or Nursing is required.
- Registered or eligible for license in District of Columbia.
- Recent clinical and teaching experience is required
- Knowledge of current nursing practices and an understanding of program objectives
