Job description

IQ Fiber was built to do internet differently. We're a 100% fiber-optic internet provider with a simple mission: To engineer a smarter internet experience. That means internet that's fast, reliable, and simply priced, backed by real humans who answer when you call and solve problems before you know they exist.

We bring that same thinking to how we build our company. Our teammates are a big part of what makes IQ Fiber different, and we believe how we work matters just as much as what we deliver. We're looking for good humans who bring great ideas, raise the bar with every task, and want to be part of a bigger story. Your work matters here.

Position Summary

IQ Fiber is seeking an OSP Supervisor to work alongside, grow, and mentor a team of OSP construction technicians and OSP engineers. As an OSP leader, this role also carries project management responsibility for residential projects, including assessment, surveys, and scheduling.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical depth in network architecture, troubleshooting, and splicing with day-to-day team development and field operations support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead personnel administration, training, and development of all field personnel, including hiring, mentoring, evaluating, and performance improvement as needed.
  • Develop team members' knowledge of network architecture, troubleshooting techniques, splicing techniques, documentation requirements, and end-to-end OSP processes.
  • Manage and coordinate outside plant construction using both in-house and contract resources to accomplish assigned projects; manage contract resources as necessary to supplement project needs.
  • Coordinate field surveys of existing or proposed outside plant installations, including aerial and underground network facilities and associated infrastructure.
  • Lead and model effective troubleshooting practices in the restoration of plant issues, defining root cause and break-fix alternatives.
  • Meet QC standards and budgetary requirements across all assigned projects.
  • Ensure system compliance with NCTA and FCC regulations and IQ Fiber's minimum operating specifications.
  • Liaise with other departments to maintain in-depth technical knowledge of new technology being deployed.
  • Ensure constant compliance with OSHA safety standards.
  • Serve as on-call management and respond to end-to-end OSP needs in the event of a service impairment or outage; support a 24/7/365 operation.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a fiber construction environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of underground and aerial construction techniques; proficient knowledge of optical networks.
  • Clear understanding of fiber design, splicing matrix sheets, and documentation requirements.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a standard background check, consumer report, and pre-employment and compulsory drug screening.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word; computer skills sufficient to process trouble tickets.
  • Must have close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus with good hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work after hours and weekends and remain in service during outages until resolved.
  • Ability to maintain readiness for on-call response, including staying within the local market and being prepared with company-provided communications equipment.
  • Ability to work emergency schedules during natural disasters and network outages.

What Success Looks Like

  • Field personnel are well-trained, mentored, and developed, with strong technical knowledge of network architecture, troubleshooting, splicing, and documentation across the team.
  • Outside plant construction projects are managed effectively using in-house and contract resources, meeting QC standards and budgetary requirements.
  • System compliance with NCTA, FCC, and OSHA standards is maintained consistently across all field operations.
  • Plant issues and service impairments are resolved quickly through effective troubleshooting and decisive on-call response, minimizing service disruption.
  • Field surveys and project management activities for residential projects are completed accurately and on schedule, supporting reliable network expansion.
