Job description

Our client is a leading software company specializing in track and trace solutions for the regulated agriculture industry, holding a dominant market position with mandated statewide use. Their platform combines advanced software with RFID technology and dedicated customer support to deliver industry-leading track-and-trace logistics solutions. Known for their innovative approach and strong growth trajectory, they offer a collaborative and fast-paced environment where technology drives business success.

As they continue to scale rapidly and expand into new markets, they are investing in strengthening their DevOps capabilities to support a robust, cloud-native infrastructure on Azure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across their critical systems. Currently, they are looking to hire a Sr DevOps Engineer to join the team based out of Lakeland, FL.

This is a direct-hire, remote position, but looking for someone in the Greater Tampa / Orlando Area with the expectation of travel to the Lakeland office on a monthly basis.

The Role You’ll Play

As the Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be a key member of a lean, high-performing team responsible for managing and optimizing our Azure-based infrastructure, including AKS Kubernetes environments. You will partner with development, QA, and IT operations teams to automate deployments, enhance system reliability, and strengthen CI / CD pipelines across environments.

This role requires strong troubleshooting ability above all else, coupled with deep technical expertise, security awareness, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’ll also mentor junior staff and support mission-critical systems that power the industry’s rapid growth and evolving business needs.

Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable Azure-based DevOps infrastructure, including AKS and Kubernetes clusters.

Build, manage, and optimize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to automate provisioning and configuration. (CloudFormation / ARM experience is a plus).

Develop and maintain CI / CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub and Octopus Deploy to support rapid software delivery.

Implement secure automation solutions across development, staging / UAT, and production environments.

Manage cloud security / IAM, user roles, and integrate vulnerability assessment tools into CI / CD workflows.

Monitor system health and performance using New Relic and other observability tools, proactively identifying and resolving issues.

Troubleshoot complex production incidents, analyze logs, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.

Collaborate closely with development teams, QA, and IT operations to ensure smooth deployment and integration of new features and services.

Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Engage in regular team meetings and stand-ups, contributing to planning and prioritization of DevOps tasks.

Background Profile :

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in DevOps engineering with a strong focus on Azure cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and automation, combined with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience in DevOps or systems engineering roles, with significant hands-on experience in Azure AKS and Kubernetes environments. (AWS experience is a plus)

Coding ability required - Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain CI / CD pipelines using tools such as Terraform, Octopus Deploy, and GitHub.

Strong scripting and automation skills, with experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.

Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting for automation.

Expertise in monitoring and performance tuning using tools like New Relic APM.

Solid understanding of container orchestration, pod management, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters.

Experience managing cloud infrastructure budgets and optimizing resource usage.

Strong knowledge of networking, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and cloud security principles.

Experience with compliance / security standards (SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001) preferred.

Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, able to diagnose complex system issues and implement effective solutions.

Strong communication skills, capable of collaborating within a small, tight-knit team and mentoring junior staff.

Comfortable with on-call rotations and flexible work hours to support production environments.

Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments is a plus.
