Who We Are

OnYourMark Education is a high dosage virtual tutoring service providing individualized early literacy virtual foundational skills instruction to elementary students grounded in the science of reading. We partner with schools as a supplement to the literacy instruction already in place to ensure students get the foundational reading skills they need to excel!

Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Operations & Finance will join the small but mighty Operations Team and will report to the VP of Operations & Finance. The Operations Team works in service of all other teams at OnYourMark; their goal is to provide the foundation across teams to ensure the organization is set up for success. The Senior Manager of Operations & Finance is a new position at OnYourMark, and is finance‑forward with a side of general operations. The Senior Manager of Operations & Finance will be responsible for overseeing our day‑to‑day financial operations, while simultaneously overhauling and improving our systems and processes to support long‑term efficiency and sustainability. This role combines financial planning, accounting, project management, strategic systems thinking, and a service‑oriented mindset.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of financial and operational experience, including budgeting across teams, invoicing, reimbursements, and reporting. Within a K‑12 or nonprofit setting is a bonus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
  • Comfort with data and technology, including spreadsheets, survey tools (e.g., Alchemer), and financial software (e.g., Expensify); eager to learn and implement new tools.
  • Collaborative mindset, with strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work effectively across teams and roles.
  • Proactive and resourceful, with a problem‑solving orientation and a desire to build systems that support long‑term sustainability.
  • Adaptable and flexible, comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities typical of an early‑stage organization.
  • Alignment with the organization’s mission and values, ensuring the financial and organizational stability to ensure our partners and tutors are empowered to drive literacy outcomes for all students.

Evolving Responsibilities

As Senior Manager of Operations & Finance at OnYourMark, your responsibilities will evolve over time as we continue to grow as an organization. To start, you can expect approximately 50-70% of this role to be finance work and the remainder to be other projects and general operational tasks. Some potential areas of focus include :

  • Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Build out and iterate budget management tools, resources, and dashboards to ensure budget owners have what they need to make financially responsible strategic decisions.
  • Create and lead budget owners through monthly budget variance process.
  • Support org‑wide budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Prepare financial data and reporting to support fundraising efforts and fulfill requirements from current and prospective funders.
  • Identify opportunities to build and improve systems and processes, and leverage technology to increase efficiency and long‑term sustainability.
  • Collaborate with team members to design and maintain efficient survey systems to collect, track, and analyze stakeholder feedback.
  • Support organizational communication and administrative workflows, including but not limited to employee and tutor HR‑related requests.
  • Lead and support a variety of ad‑hoc and special projects as priorities evolve in a fast‑paced, startup environment.

We also work across the country so early mornings or later evenings are possible depending on a teammate’s timezone and where the schools we serve are located.

    Expected compensation $70,000-85,000k, commensurate with experience.
