Description :

Licensed for 457 beds.

Level 3 Trauma and Stroke Center of Excellence.

Bariatric Center of Excellence.

Chest Pain Center.

Minimum patient census is 51.

Patient types include chronic diseases, CHF specialty area, mental health, addiction services for patients requiring 6 weeks of IV antibiotics, COPD, diabetes, wounds, and geriatric care.

Patient ratios are 1 : 4-6, with potential surges increasing the ratio to 1 : 7-8 based on acuity.

Skills required include general Med / Tele skill set.

Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation is necessary.

Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem and Amiodarone is required.

Care of patients with tubes and drains is essential.

IV start skills are a must.

Experience with blood products and wound care / dressing changes is necessary.

Support within the department includes a nurse manager, clinical supervisors, staff RNs, CNAs, clinical mentors, and a rapid response RN.

Technology used includes an electronic medical record system.

Department-specific equipment includes scales, GBS machines, transfer devices, EKGs, crash carts, language interpreters, telemedicine carts for online assessments of patients, and dopplers.

Floating within the region and scope of practice is required as needed.

Travelers may float to other facilities within the region if the need arises.

Weekend rotations are required every other weekend.

Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays.

Request time off (RTO) can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays.

Scheduled shifts include 0700-1900 and 1900-0700.

A 6-week scheduling cycle is implemented.
