Program Summary :

Parents as Teachers (P.A.T.) is a program that gives key information about early childhood development. P.A.T. provides in-home family support & education to help parents promote development, provide early detection of developmental delays and increase the child’s school readiness and success using the P.A.T. curriculum.

Job Summary :

  • The Parent Educator provides weekly home visits to families who have been denied services from the Arizona Early Intervention Program, their local Developmental Preschool Program, and / or whose parents are concerned with their child’s development.
  • The role of the Parent Educator is to work with and support family members and caregivers in children’s lives while ensuring all services provided are culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate for the population to be served;

while following the policies and procedures of The Parents As Teachers Early Intervention Program.

  • They will also conduct family-centered assessments and goal setting with the families, develop and deliver monthly Group Connections, connect families to outside resources and referrals, and provide coordination and advocacy for services needed to assist families in working towards their goals.
  • Maintaining a caseload of 15 families, Parent Educators plan, deliver, and complete data entry within established timeframe policies and work cohesively with their teammates.

We are looking to fill one position immediately to cover the caseload in Maricopa County. The Parent Educator will cover the SW region of Maricopa County (Avondale, Buckeye, and Tolleson).

Requirements :

  • Minimum associate degree in Social Work, Family Studies, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or a related field.
  • Two or more years experience working with young children 0 - 5 years of age and their parents.
  • Experience working with families and children who are developmentally delayed.
  • Experience with families and children with special needs.
  • Have knowledge / experience in working with the AzEIP program.
  • Have knowledge / experience in-home visitation and group education.
  • Have knowledge / experience in typical and delayed child development.
  • Bilingual, and fluent in English / Spanish are required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends.
  • Must be eligible and able to obtain a Level one fingerprint card.
  • Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license, and vehicle and meet agency liability insurance requirements.
