We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Jacksonville, Florida. In this role, you will be responsible for managing financial records, monitoring expenditures, and preparing comprehensive financial reports for Non-profit-related activities. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting principles and software, a solid understanding of financial processes, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities :
- Maintain accurate accounting records and reconcile subsidiary accounts to the general ledger.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with expenditure processes for school and church activity funds.
- Prepare and record journal entries for balance sheets, revenues, and expenditures.
- Perform timely reconciliation and closing of financial accounts, including bank and credit card statements.
- Assist in audit preparations, including the annual financial audit, to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Monitor internal controls to identify and address areas for improvement.
- Process invoices, purchase orders, and receiving reports for payment and issue checks.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports, tracking fund revenues and expenditures.
- Record deposits, withdrawals, and travel reimbursements for school and church activity funds.
- Collaborate with administrators, pastors, and financial managers to oversee budgets and recommend procedural improvements.
- At least three years of detailed bookkeeping or accounting experience, with one year in school or church fund accounting preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred, but relevant coursework and experience will be considered.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with financial tools such as Financial Edge and Blackbaud is highly desirable.
- Strong skills in account reconciliation, general ledger management, and month-end closing processes.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License and candidates must undergo required screening.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate within a team.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems in a methodical and efficient manner.
