Primary duties and responsibilities include :

  • Demonstrates exceptional service and selling skills; capacity for customer engagement and salesmanship, including approachability, perceptiveness, tact, resilience, and initiative.
  • Highly visible on the sales floor to customers and associates, especially during peak time.
  • Identifies wine education opportunities for customers and staff and coordinates with the Store Manager.
  • Regularly communicates with General Store Manager, Pricing Manager, and Marketing Manager to keep informed on all sales, promotions, and campaigns.
  • Works closely with the Appetito team in coordinating beverages into the classroom and events.
  • Maintains open and flexible availability, including peak traffic hours.
  • Specifically able to work evenings, weekends, and periods leading up to major retail holidays.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the store to ensure cleanliness and organization at all times.
  • Writes wine product descriptions.
  • Knowledgeable of all wine pricing, signage, and display and can communicate to customers.
  • Works closely with wine & beer vendors and assists in stocking and presenting wine merchandise.
  • Continue to support Glorioso’s as the source of Italian wine for a broad customer base, ranging from the casual wine drinker to the aficionado.
  • Ensure appropriate merchandise selection, stock levels, merchandise adjacencies, and presentations; signing and assortment in all departments;

ensure that the selling floor is adequately stocked.

  • Control shrink, expenses, and payroll.
  • Control spoilage, achieve margin goals, and control inventories.
  • Maintain financial profitability by meeting and exceeding margin and sales targets.
  • Educate employees and customers about wine and related products.
  • Ensure that the store provides excellent customer service.
  • Comparison shop and report results.
  • Review department / store trends and recommend and initiate changes for maximizing goals and objectives.
  • Wine and beer purchasing and store management experience.
  • A proven track record of driving sales and service.
  • An extensive knowledge and passion for wine and spirits.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with a good floor presence.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Analytical ability sufficient to calculate margins, monitors profitability, and manage inventory.
  • Knowledge of wine and industry trends.
  • Dedication, drive, creativity, whatever-it-takes attitude, and genuine entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Resourceful thinks of new and unique ideas and ways to succeed, creative in marshaling resources, materials, etc.
  • Fine Wine Sales Experience.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends when success requires it.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
