Position Title : Manager of Accounting

Location : Washington, D.C. (Onsite - 5 days per week for the first 6 months, hybrid 4 days thereafter)

Assignment Type : Direct Hire (may consider Contract-to-Hire for candidates not currently employed)

Compensation : $100,000 annually (no bonus or flexibility)

Work Schedule : Monday - Friday, 9 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM (35-hour work week, additional hours as needed)

Job Description

Addison Group is partnering with a leading nonprofit in Washington, D.C., to identify a Manager of Accounting . This individual will oversee core accounting operations, ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory reporting, and provide leadership within a collaborative finance team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and experienced managing accounting functions in a nonprofit or education environment.

Key Responsibilities :

• Supervise daily, weekly, and monthly financial reconciliations and analyses.
• Review and prepare journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules for month-end close.
• Oversee accounting functions related to accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, debt, and regulatory filings.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors and manage audit preparation activities.
• Prepare and review financial statements, disclosures, and reports for management and external agencies.
• Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders to support financial transparency and accountability.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and control within accounting operations.
• Stay current with new accounting standards and assist in adoption and implementation where applicable.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a small accounting team while serving as a hands-on contributor.
