Job description

Express Employment of Columbia, MO is immediately hiring a Skilled Mechanic for a local growing company!

The Mechanic is responsible for performing routine automotive maintenance, tire services, repairs, and state vehicle inspections. This position will diagnose basic vehicle issues, complete services efficiently and safely, and provide quality workmanship while maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform oil changes, tire installation, rotations, balancing, and tire repairs, including patching and plugging tires.
  • Conduct state vehicle safety inspections in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Inspect tires, brakes, fluids, and other vehicle components for wear, damage, or potential safety concerns.
  • Perform basic mechanical maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Properly operate tire-changing machines, balancing equipment, lifts, and other shop tools.
  • Identify and communicate recommended repairs or maintenance needs to customers and/or management.
  • Maintain accurate service records and document completed work.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and proper handling practices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and work area.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service.
  • Assist with additional shop duties as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in automotive, tire, or mechanical service preferred.
  • Knowledge of tire repair, installation, rotation, and balancing.
  • Ability to perform oil changes and basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Familiarity with state vehicle inspection requirements.
  • Ability to safely operate automotive service equipment and hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting, standing, bending, and working around vehicles and equipment.
