Job description

We are in need of a front office receptionist who can professionally greet patients and schedule patients at the front desk. Relevant industry knowledge is NOT necessary. Experience with Nextgen/Intergy/Epic would be a plus.

MEDICAL FRONT OFFICE

Pay: $18.00-$24.00

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for greeting, instructing, directing, and scheduling patients and visitors. It also serves as a liaison between patients and medical support staff.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma/GED equivalent required. Minimum 1 year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting with excellent telephone and customer service skills. Experience with electronic health records and scheduling preferred. Bi-lingual Spanish a bonus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

All duties and responsibilities are essential job functions and are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities. Other functions and accountabilities may be assigned from time to time. Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. To perform this job successfully, the employee will possess the skills, aptitudes, and abilities to perform each duty proficiently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
  2. May assist with preparing daily batching for the business office and/or bank deposits as requested.
  3. Collects money for copays and prior balances
  4. Checks in patients and verifies and updates necessary information in the medical record. Assists patients with ambulatory difficulties.
  5. Follows office scheduling policies.
  6. Answers the telephone, screens calls, takes messages and provides necessary information to the callers.
  7. Screens visitors and responds to routine requests for information.
  8. May file charts, coordinate lab work, physician’s report, etc.
  9. May sort and deliver mail, medical records, and other correspondence.
  10. May assist in pharmacy refill requests.
  11. Maintains work area and lobby in neat and orderly manner.
  12. Attends meetings as required.
  13. In the spirit of teamwork, employees are expected to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties as requested.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of business office procedures. Knowledge of managed care products such as HMO's and PPO's. Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information. Skill in operating a computer and photocopy machine. Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to sort and file materials correctly and in alphabetical or numeric systems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
