GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Participate in the planning organization and implementation of a health education program for a specific population served by the Health and Human Services Department. This may include providing intervention services technical support and other professional services to public and private medical communities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general direction of a supervisor who assigns and reviews work for conformance to department policy. May also take direction from a Health Educator 3.

Supervision of employees is not a responsibility of positions within this class.
Typical Duties - Duties include but are not limited to the following
Community Based Tobacco Prevention
- Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with leadership stakeholders schools community-based organizations social service agencies faith-based organizations healthcare providers and other community partners engaged in chronic disease and tobacco prevention efforts.
- Collaborate with and provide technical assistance to community partners to promote evidence based upstream tobaccoprevention programming and policy developmentin healthcare settings businesses agencies schools and other community settings
- Actively participate in CHIP workgroups local community planning groups community partner meetings and one-on-one Stakeholder meetings
- Present accurate persuasive communications with the public school representatives community partners health agency leaders and policy makers.
- Work with internal and external partners to ensure programs and services meet the needs of targeted high-risk population as identified by data
- Collect interpret analyze and present local indicator data

Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
May be required to flex time or work additional hours on weekends or evenings to accommodate business needs.
Response Level 2 : In the event of an emergency employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 on-line or in-person training.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the objectives principles theories and practices of health education and the organization and functions of public health; basic life sciences sociology community and social organization and of modern educational theory literature and techniques; strong communication skills.
Ability to practice successful negotiation and persuasion skills; effectively conduct investigations by interviewing verifying facts and documenting information; make constructive evaluations of public health education curricula programs methods and accomplishments; lift at least 40 pounds.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Drives a motor vehicle in the performance of duties; uses depth perception; reads a 12 pt. font; distinguishes colors; speaks with a clear and audible voice; hears a normal level of speech; sits; stands; climb stairs; moves about the work area; reaches overhead; bends forward; uses hands and fingers to grasp and manipulate objects; operates a keyboard; lifts pushes pulls moves carts and carries up to 40 lbs. for up to 100 yards; on rare occasion may work around dust smoke vibration or radiation; may encounter uneven areas when working in community or school visits; will transport projector and laptop in rolling bag and will lift bag into and out of vehicles.
PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program full-time employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Student Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions about your student loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or the US Department of Education.
