2027 Summer Internship

About Cache Valley Electric

Cache Valley Electric is a leading electrical contractor with a long-standing reputation for delivering high-quality electrical construction projects across the country. Our teams work on complex and challenging projects while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, innovation, teamwork, and customer service.

At Cache Valley Electric, we believe the best way to learn construction is to be part of it. Our internship program gives students the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to active projects, and gain practical experience that goes beyond the classroom.

Internship Overview

The Project Engineer Internship provides hands-on experience in electrical construction and project management while giving you the opportunity to apply to real-world construction projects.

You will work alongside experienced Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, and field teams while gaining exposure to the day-to-day operations of active electrical construction projects.

Throughout the internship, you will gain an understanding of the complete project lifecycle, including preconstruction, planning, scheduling, procurement, cost tracking, project documentation, field coordination, safety, and project closeout.

You will have opportunities to participate in project meetings, review drawings and specifications, assist with RFIs and submittals, track materials and equipment, and support communication between project management and field operations.

Our goal is to provide you with meaningful responsibilities and real project experience rather than simply observing from the sidelines. We hope you will be encouraged to ask questions, contribute ideas, solve problems, and develop the technical, leadership, and communication skills necessary to build a successful career in the electrical construction industry.

  • Assist with preparing, tracking, and maintaining Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals.
  • Help coordinate project documentation between the office and field.
  • Assist with material and equipment procurement, tracking, and delivery coordination.
  • Participate in project planning, coordination, and progress meetings.
  • Gain exposure to project schedules and assist with tracking project milestones and deadlines.
  • Learn how project costs, budgets, change orders, and forecasts are managed.
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs and other estimating or project-related tasks as needed.
  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, and other project partners.
  • Visit active construction areas and gain firsthand exposure to field operations.
  • Work with field supervision to understand construction sequencing, productivity, and installation methods.
  • Assist with project quality control and closeout documentation.
  • Follow all company and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Complete additional project assignments and responsibilities as directed by the project team.

What You'll Learn

This internship is designed to provide exposure to multiple areas of electrical construction and project management, including:

  • Electrical construction operations
  • Understand Our Mission Critical Projects
  • Project management fundamentals
  • Construction drawings and specifications
  • RFIs and submittals
  • Project scheduling
  • Cost tracking and forecasting
  • Change management
  • Material and equipment procurement
  • Field coordination
  • Construction safety
  • Quality control
  • Project documentation
  • Communication with general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and field personnel
