Marketing Specialist

Founded in 1854, Hamline was the first university in Minnesota and among the first coeducational institutions in the nation. Hamline University provides a world-class education for undergraduate and graduate students. Our faculty, staff, and students cultivate an ethic of civic responsibility, social justice, and inclusive leadership and service.

Hamline University is an Equal Opportunity employer. Hamline University does not discriminate on the basis of race; color; religion; creed; sex; national origin; marital status; familial status; status with regard to public assistance; membership or activity in a local human rights commission; disability; age; protected veteran status; or any other status protected by applicable law in its education or employment programs or activities. The University will provide reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities.

The Marketing Specialist is responsible for executing marketing strategies that enhance awareness, affinity, trust, and loyalty among prospective and current students, families, alumni, donors, community partners, university employees and other stakeholders who are important to the university's success.

This position works with the Senior Manager of Brand and Marketing and others across the university to identify, develop, produce, manage and track creative assets that express Hamline's brand identity, cultivate brand loyalty, drive student enrollment, and support advancement initiatives. The Marketing Specialist will research and write marketing copy and assist with research, planning, logistics, analytics, and reporting to support brand and marketing initiatives.

This role also assists the Senior Manager of Brand and Marketing with workflow, project management, and administrative operations for the Marketing and Communications department.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Brand and Strategic Priorities Marketing Strategy and Execution

  • Assist the Senior Manager of Brand and Marketing with the development and execution of strategic, integrated marketing campaigns that support brand awareness, strategic priorities, and institutional advancement goals.
  • Research, execute, track results, and report on assigned marketing tactics and projects.

  • Write and refine copy for digital and print advertisements, brochures, emails, events, signage, videos, and other formats as assigned.
  • Ensure content aligns with the university's brand voice, messaging framework, and strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with designers, videographers, and marketing colleagues to develop integrated digital campaigns.
  • Work with Senior Manager of Brand and Marketing to develop editorial or content tracking to ensure strategic alignment and timely delivery of brand, strategic priorities, and institutional advancement campaigns.

Collaboration and Project Management

  • Work closely with admission, advancement, and academic departments to craft messaging that supports recruitment, retention, and fundraising efforts.
  • Contribute to institutional storytelling efforts by identifying and developing content that highlights the university's mission, student success, faculty expertise, and alumni impact.
  • Stay informed about best practices in brand compliance, marketing, copywriting, and audience engagement, and recommend and implement innovative content strategies.
  • Participate in project planning meetings and contribute to timelines and content workflows, especially for large campaigns.

Other Duties:

  • Perform additional work-related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
