The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all facets of our radiation oncology physics program, including clinical support, QA, teaching, clinical projects, and periodic support of our satellite sites.

Candidates should be certified or eligible for board certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). Preference given to applicants with 3-5 years’ experience, including residency. An M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Medical Physics or in a related field is required. In addition, programing skills, and enthusiasm for the latest technology would position the candidate very well for upcoming clinical / research projects.

The Radiation Medicine Department at MUSC is dynamic and growing. Current clinical faculty staffing at the main campus includes eight radiation oncologists and seven physicists. In addition, we have seven dosimetrists and dedicated IT support. The division of Medical Physics has a CAMPEP accredited radiation oncology physics residency program with two physics residents. Treatment planning systems utilized are Eclipse with ARIA record and verify system, RayStation, Gamma Plan, and Nucletron Oncentra. Eye plaque planning with Plaque Simulator(I-125), or Gamma Tile(Cs-131) supported by MIM is offered. Other equipment and software include IBA scanning systems, Mobius, Velocity, SNC QA devices, and a broad variety of other physics instrumentation. MUSC Radiation Medicine treats approximately 1300 patients per year and is the only program in South Carolina providing total body irradiation (TBI) and total skin electron treatment (TSET).
