POSITION PURPOSE : The College of Natural Sciences, Mathematics & Engineering’s (NSME) technical support staff play a critical role in supporting the College’s and CSUB’s mission, vision, and values. Under general supervision of the Dean of the College of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, & Engineering, and with daily lead direction from the department chair for Chemistry and Biochemistry, the Instructional Support Technician I performs comprehensive support services for providing materials, supplies, equipment and related logistical support to a variety of lower and upper division laboratory courses in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE – Equivalent to two years of (recent – within three years) experience providing instructional support services for a unit or discipline, acting as a student assistant, or in producing materials or supplies related to chemistry or a related discipline.
OR
Equivalent two years of college with 16 semester units in chemistry or related discipline in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
OR
Equivalent to four years of college with 16 semester units in chemistry or related discipline in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment may be substituted for the required experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS : HEAVY WORK – 50% or more of the activities involve walking, standing, squatting, kneeling or climbing; lifting heavy weight objects which may exceed 50 pounds.
