Hands on leader overseeing Supply Chain and Stockroom departments. Responsible for organizing, developing operational plans and controls, and personnel development of employees engaged in providing material support to Production Operations. Operational owner of activities such as order placement, receiving of incoming parts and material, stocking and issuing of parts and equipment, inventory control, packing and kitting of company products.
Responsibilities
Ownership of the strategic planning for supply chain operations, including all sourcing and sub-tier decisions.
Plans, schedules, prioritizes, and supervises employees engaged in a wide range of material support activities such as receiving, stocking, inventory control, and picking, packing, and shipping of company products.
Leads team responsible for placing purchase orders, expediting orders as required to support customer demand, and assisting the Purchasing Supervisor and buyers with any supplier issues.
With the Operations Manager and Planning Manager, owns the joint development of monthly production targets in support of corporate and customer objectives.
Conducts studies to develop and implement material operations techniques and procedures to improve productivity and cost-effectiveness. Owns supply chain PPV and actions to drive incremental purchase price improvement.
Trains employees in the application of most cost-effective and efficient procurement procedures, including but not limited to forecast orders, order bundling, Vendor Managed Inventory.
Coordinates materials operations activities with company line and staff organizations.
Hits monthly targets for cost savings and on time delivery for suppliers.
Oversees and manages all purchasing department and stockroom personnel.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (BS / BA) from four-year college or university;
C.P.I.M. Certification is highly desirable
Ten years of directly related experience in materials management, purchasing, or supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment
Seven in a management role
Preferred experience in high mix / low volume aerospace environment
Must have in-depth knowledge of Company and industry material procurement and negotiation practices.
ITAR - applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.
Experience in working with multi-layer BOM’s and capacity planning.
Problem solving, critical thinking and creativity skills are essential.
Must be able to organize and coordinate a major purchasing activity.
Must be highly motivated and be a committed team player.
Excellent PC skills including Excel and other MS Office applications and strong working knowledge of computerized enterprise resource planning system (ERP), or material requirements planning system (MRP).
