Job Description
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine seeks a trauma surgeon holding MD (or equivalent) for a faculty position with open rank and tenure status. The candidate must be board-certified or board-eligible for orthopaedic surgery and eligible to be licensed in Alabama. Candidate must have completed a fellowship in orthopaedic surgery, have in-depth clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and be highly motivated and compassionate to all patients. Dedication to teaching and training of resident physicians is expected. Rank, salary, and tenure status commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is dedicated to maintaining excellence in clinical care, education, and research. With fellowship-trained subspecialists in all areas of orthopaedic surgery, we offer state-of-the-art care for patients with the most simple or complex orthopaedic conditions. Our training programs, including programs for students, residents, and fellows, are nationally recognized and focus on developing future leaders in our profession. Finally, our faculty conducts innovative research, which concentrates on creating new knowledge that directly improves the outcomes of our patients.
