Why Hazen and Sawyer:

  • Founded in 1951 by the son of Allen Hazen (developer of the Hazen-Williams equation), we are an employee-owned company with a singular focus on "all things water."
  • Our work includes planning, design, and oversight of construction of environmental infrastructure for water, wastewater, and stormwater management.
  • We foster a work environment low on bureaucracy and high in creativity.
  • We recruit talented professionals, provide them with challenging, interesting, and creative assignments, and furnish them with the tools they need to succeed.
  • We currently have over 2,000 employees in 70+ offices throughout the United States, Latin America, Canada, and the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participation in the evaluation, planning, and design of water, wastewater, stormwater, reuse, and infrastructure projects
  • Participating in a project team from the initial study and conceptual design stages through to the construction of major water related infrastructure projects
  • Fieldwork and site visits from design through construction may be required

    • Project management of a large project or several small projects
    • Client development and management supported by our local offices
    • Planning, organizing, and supervising staff of engineers on projects

Required Qualifications:

  • PE license (FL preferred or ability to obtain reciprocity within six months of employment)
  • 5-10 years of experience in planning, design, or construction of water-related projects
  • Experience related to preparing conceptual/feasibility studies, development of construction drawings and specifications, bidding assistance, and support of office and field-related construction services
  • Familiarity with engineering and construction management software
  • Capable of supervising staff and managing small projects
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, and be capable of interacting effectively with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies
  • Proficiency in computer software typically used (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • B.S. degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate) in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited U.S. program (other engineering degrees considered case by case)
  • Proficiency in GIS, CAD/BIM, BioWin, PowerBI, and other software

What We Offer:

  • Pre-tax flexible spending plans for medical, dependent care, and transportation
  • Short and long-term disability, and employer paid life insurance
  • Paid holidays, floating holidays, and paid time off (PTO)
  • Employer-contributed 401(k) plan and additional financial planning support
