The Department of Sociology at Brandeis University seeks an instructor for the Sociology of Education, SOC 104a, 4 credit course in Spring 2025. This course examines the role of education in society, including pedagogy, school systems, teacher organizations, parental involvement, community contexts, as well as issues of class, race, and gender. The class meets the university's diversity requirement (DEIS-US) and is crosslisted with the Education Program. The class meets on MWTH in the morning / early afternoon (we will work with the instructor on finding an agreeable time within the open class blocks).
Candidates with an MA or higher in Sociology and previous experience teaching the sociology of education will be given preference. Interested individuals should submit a cover letter, CV, and names and contact information for two references. The deadline for first consideration is September 13, 2024. This appointment is to a position that is in a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 509.
