Job Description

Under direction, perform work of considerable difficulty in the inspection of major sewer construction projects contracted directly with the District or lead a team in the daily inspection of development projects.

Essential Functions :

  • Inspection of complex / major sewer and facility projects under District contract
  • Meeting with applicable stakeholders throughout construction of a project
  • Preparation of quantities and calculations to be used in monthly pay applications
  • Serving as a point of contact for other District inspection personnel

Additional Responsibilities : Maintains records and prepares reports; performs related work as required or as delegated by supervisor.

Qualifications

Training and Experience :

High school diploma / GED, 30 college credit hours, AND five years experience in the construction and inspection of sewers.

High school diploma / GED, completion of the American Public Works Association's (APWA) Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector II Certification, AND five years experience in the construction and inspection of sewers.

  • Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, practices and techniques involved in sewer construction;
  • thorough knowledge of standard engineering field tests; skill in interpreting plans and specifications; skill in forming and maintaining effective working relationships with contractors, consulting engineers, public officials, the general public and others;
  • skill in expressing oneself clearly and concisely in both oral and written form; skill in maintaining records and preparing reports;

ability to assign and oversee the work of construction inspectors; familiarity with use of personal computer and department hardware and software.

Must possess valid driver's license issued by state in which employee resides.

Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures," this position has been designated as safety sensitive and candidate must pass a Non-D.

O.T. Drug Test for this position. Employees occupying this position are not subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.

Must be able to provide transportation for field work.

Employees of MSD must have a current meets expectations performance review.
