This position may be performed remotely, in the United States. Candidates must live in a state where Scooter's Coffee operates coffee shop locations. Scooter's Coffee is headquartered in Omaha, NE. Regular travel to Omaha will be expected for candidates that do not reside in Omaha, NE. ?
Description
Scooter's Coffee is looking for a Paralegal to join the Legal team at its corporate headquarters. This position is full-time and will report to the Vice President, Franchise Administration and Compliance. This is a unique opportunity in the Paralegal profession, with an emphasis on providing contractual and administrative support. The Paralegal will be responsible for reviewing and drafting franchise and franchisor-related agreements, supporting the Legal, Compliance and Franchise Development teams, and will assist with managing and ensuring compliance of Scooter's Coffee franchises. ?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with drafting, reviewing, and revising legal documents including franchise agreements, area development agreements, amendments, default and termination notices, purchase agreements, letters of intent, consent to transfer agreements, and any other documentation relative to the franchisor and / or franchisees??
- Manage tracking of agreements by maintaining and managing the central database of agreement and franchisee information?
- Monitor compliance with contract requirements for required opening dates, transfer dates, area development opening dates
- Communicate directly with franchisees regarding legal notices or agreements
- Assist CLO in overseeing compliance with FTC (Federal Trade Commission) rules and regulations, as applied to franchisors
- Assist with preparation of resale locations
- Coordinates all time-sensitive and critical components of the store transfer process to ensure seamless execution and business continuity
- Assist with vetting franchise prospects for ownership, including collecting entity and partnership information
- Maintain Scooter's legal files
- Suggest process improvements and enhancements, when identified
- Provide administrative support for Franchise Recruitment and Resale Team
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or paralegal certification required?At least five (5) years of corporate franchise legal department and / or law firm experience requiredHighly organized and self-driven, with the ability to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced environment across multiple projects?Ability to interact and build relationships with people at all levels of the organization, and across the franchise system?Demonstrated organization skills and strong attention to detail?Exceptional verbal and written communication skills?Strong research skills?Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, Power Point, and contract management software?Franchise experience is strongly preferred.Disclaimer? ?
