Position Summary:
The Litigation Project Assistant supports the Firm's Litigation Practice Group with large case preparation and document management by providing administrative and project support for the Firm's litigation and transactional legal teams. This role is responsible for a wide range of administrative, organizational, and project specific tasks that directly support the Firm's litigation and transactional client work. The Litigation Project Assistant should be solutions-oriented, analytical, able to build effective working relationships quickly, and possess excellent communication skills.
The Litigation Practice Group is the largest practice group at Benesch, with over 100 attorneys. Our attorneys represent companies and individuals in a broad range of litigation matters, including consumer and securities fraud class actions, product liability claims, business torts, contract disputes, intellectual property claims, antitrust litigation, defamation, and trade secret misappropriation.
Essential Functions:
- Assist case teams with organization of case and matter documents including management of electronic and paper documents.
- Prepare and maintain indexes to case and matter documents including litigation filings, evidentiary documents, corporate filings, and other case and matter information for large scale litigation matters.
- Organize, redact and finalize documents (electronic and paper) for discovery including support of deposition and document productions; assist with deposition, hearing and trial prep support.
- Assist with assembling and preparing documents to be filed in State and Federal court, including formatting documents and preparing exhibits for submission.
- Prepare binders for depositions as well as working with witnesses to ensure preparation for testimony.
- Assist with preparation for depositions, hearings, and trials.
- Keep service list and party sheet current.
- Compile case law cited in filings.
- Identify and accomplish long and short-term goals, projects and activities.
