A leading specialty healthcare organization in Anchorage is seeking an experienced Business Office Manager to oversee all billing, reimbursement, and coding operations within a high-volume Business Office. Position Overview
The Business Office Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and performance of the billing and revenue cycle team. This role ensures accurate and timely patient billing, proper reimbursement across all payer types, and efficient account collections to support maximum cash flow. The ideal candidate is an experienced revenue cycle leader with a strong background in billing operations, compliance, team management, and process optimization within a medical practice or healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and daily oversight of all billing office functions, including charge posting, payment posting, insurance / Medicare research, collections, patient / insurance refunds, and bank deposits.
- Develop departmental objectives, establish workflows, and monitor performance to ensure accuracy, productivity, and timely resolution of patient accounts.
- Hire, train, evaluate, and support Business Office staff, including performance management and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Maintain accounting controls and ensure proper segregation of duties to safeguard against fraud and abuse.
- Oversee insurance billing, collections, and claims processing while identifying and resolving operational issues.
- Collaborate with leadership to prepare monthly accounts receivable reporting and analysis.
- Support updates to the organization’s fee schedule and CPT coding to maintain compliance with current guidelines.
- Monitor patient and insurance credit balances and ensure timely and accurate refunds.
- Participate in annual budgeting processes for Business Office–related functions.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of claims and reimbursements across Medicare, Medicaid, VA, Blue Cross, Tricare, and other contracted payers.
Qualifications
Preferred Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.Required & Preferred Experience :
Minimum of five years’ experience in a medical business office setting.At least two years of experience managing a billing department.Prior supervisory experience overseeing a team of five or more employees.Strong understanding of revenue cycle management, compliance, insurance billing, and coding processes.Employee Benefits
