Job Summary : This position is responsible for leading production staff, production of all hot and cold food, the packaging of grab n go items for deliveries, closing and cleaning kitchen.
Responsibilities : Develops menus and recipes, performs cooking and related activities, and interacts with customers to safely create and serve high quality food.
- 60% Prepares a variety of food according to customer orders or established menus / recipes, following approved procedures
- 5% Assists with recipe development, food testing, and daily menu planning to meet anticipated customer needs
- 5% Monitors and maintains portion controls and adheres to safe food quality, handling, and sanitation processes
- 5% Executes, trains, and assists with leading food production activities and procedures of dining staff and student workers
- 5% Audits and maintains inventory, equipment, and clean work areas
- 5% Greets customers, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation and associated activities
- 5% Preparation of restaurants and markets hot and cold foods
- 5% Assist with periodic inventory control activities
- 5% Communicate with other departments and vendors as needed.

Qualifications : 2 years experience in a professional kitchen preparing hot and cold food using standardized recipes in high-volume.
License / Certification : Required

Additional Information : The Wisconsin Union operates two buildings on the UW-Madison campus. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by twenty-two food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending.
Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $45 million dollars.
The Wisconsin Union is part of Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, led by the Vice chancellor for student affairs.
