Our growing IT Risk Advisory Services practice, a specialty area within our Consulting Services group, is seeking motivated students who are interested in expanding their knowledge in the consulting industry to participate in our 2025 internship program.

As an IT Risk Advisory Summer Intern , you will work as part of the engagement team focusing on IT compliance or advisory projects and will assist management in preparing risk assessments, audit plan programs, and internal audit reports.
You will serve a variety of clients in various industries within the public and private sectors. This internship will prepare you for a role in governance, risk and compliance, and will focus on testing IT and security controls to determine if organizations are meeting control requirements for various security control frameworks.
Schneider Downs has embraced the hybrid work model, so this role will have flexibility working from home, as well as in the office.
The summer session typically runs from mid-May until mid-August. While flexibility is at the core of our culture, the expectation is that interns will be available during working hours Monday through Friday, 9 am through 5 pm.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Identify, evaluate and document IT risks and general computer and application controls
- Evaluate security controls for various technology stacks, including Windows, Linux, Software as a Service Platforms, Cloud environments (Amazon Web Services, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform)
- Perform and document test results and walkthroughs of IT processes and controls, including logical security, physical security, change management, risk assessment, vendor risk management, business continuity, privacy and governance
- Evaluate evidence to determine if controls are designed and operating effectively to meet requirements for SOC 1, SOC 2 and / or Sarbanes-Oxley
- Assist on special projects as assigned (, data mining, security assessments, process flowcharting)
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Management Information Systems (MIS), or related field
- Must have an anticipated graduation date between December 2025 and August 2026, and be available to begin full-time work between January 2026-October 2026
- A preferred overall GPA of ( minimum), or combination of educational success and applicable work and / or volunteer experience
Schneider Downs’ internship program is designed to give students meaningful work experiences while supporting the firm’s hiring needs, especially as we continue to grow.
Our interns are eligible for conversion into full-time employment after graduation based upon individual performance and department need.
