The Agency You'll Join The New York City Mayor's Office is responsible for overseeing city services throughout the five boroughs, coordinating public agencies and departments, and managing public property. The Team You'll Work With The Mayor's Office of Communications leads the effort to inform, update, and engage New Yorkers about Mayor Eric Adams commitments to getting stuff done for all New Yorkers. The Problems You'll Solve The Director will report directly to the Deputy Mayor for Communications. S / he will work closely with other members of the communications team and numerous city agencies to develop and execute high-impact digital communication strategies. The ideal candidate will be a sharp digital strategist with a record of success, an adept communicator and creative problem solver. Primary responsibilities include :
About You - You have an eye for issues and content that will engage New Yorkers. You have excellent interpersonal and verbal skills. You have the ability to understand complex policy and political issues and develop clear, concise, and persuasive messages related to them. You are highly organized and deadline-driven to help keep a team on track to advance multiple assignments at once in a fast-paced environment, strong project management skills. You have a proven ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You have experience working with diverse communities. You have the ability to work independently and collaboratively, while listening and learning from feedback. You have the ability to thrive in a busy, multi-tasking, and time-pressured environment.
Qualifications - You have a Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of experience in digital communications, with preference for government, politics, public affairs, or strategic communications, preferably in a political or issue advocacy campaign setting. You have 2 to 3 years of hands-on digital media leadership experience, with a strong track record of helping to lead effective digital communications campaigns.
