IT Security Engineer

Polsinelli, a national law firm headquartered in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Security Engineer. Reporting to the Director of Information Security, this role can be hired as remote or hybrid, provided the candidate is located in a state / jurisdiction wherein we practice.

Position Overview

• This position is focused on the delivery of information security as a wholistic solution, addressing confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information technology resources.
• The successful candidate will possess deep technical acumen, extraordinary attention to detail, and employ people-oriented skills to improve security.

Key Requirements

• Experience working with highly technical, distributed, multi-disciplinary teams
• Deep knowledge and expertise on current and emerging technologies
• Strong in Project Management disciplines and IT governance practices
• Extensive background delivering Security posture improvements within IT
• Highly competent in Change Management methodologies
• Background and experience within Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity practices, definition, and realization
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and documentation skills
• Highly competent in interacting with IT and business users
• Monitoring, assessing, testing, and analyzing systems to identify and correct potential security breaches
• Creating security plans, policies, protocols, and training to prepare the organization for efficient and effective incident response
• Working under pressure to assess and respond to threats through intrusion detection, security auditing, and risk analysis
• Using network forensics, reverse engineering, and penetration testing skills to address security threats
• Creating incident reports for management, administrators, and law enforcement

Preferred Competencies

• Extensive background driving process improvement initiatives
• Understanding of modern networking / security architecture models and strategies
• Experience in incident response management
• Working knowledge and understanding of risk and compliance requirements
• Previously held leadership roles within Legal IT

Technical Requirements

5+ years of enterprise IT experience within IT and Information Security

Immediate Goals

• Establish KPIs / OKRs across each security offering tied to metric-based goals
• Aide in maturing the security program and Incident Management processes
• Drive incident response in collaboration with IT and information Security teams
• Assist in defining and executing a long-term strategic security roadmap
• Act as owner / decision maker for complex technical issues and deliverables
