Schedule : 2nd Shift | Part-Time | Must Have Full Weekend Availability Duration : 6+ Months (Potential for FTE Conversion) Position Summary
The Environmental Services Technician II supports the effective operations of the Environmental Services Department by performing daily cleaning, disinfecting, and supplying of patient care and non-patient care areas. This includes patient rooms, treatment rooms, restrooms, corridors, nursing stations, offices, waiting areas, and other areas as assigned. The role requires the use of appropriate cleaning equipment, chemicals, and techniques in alignment with hospital standards, safety policies, and regulatory guidelines. The Technician projects a professional image, provides high-quality service, and ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities General Duties (EVS I & II)
Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of assigned areas using proper cleaning techniques, equipment, and chemicals.
Clean and disinfect bathrooms, floors, carpets, walls, windows, and high-touch surfaces.
Remove trash, waste, and soiled linens; transport them according to department standards.
Maintain cleanliness of trash chute rooms and utility areas.
Assist with storage and distribution of housekeeping supplies.
Handle and transport regulated medical waste safely and securely.
Recognize and follow designated signs, symbols, safety warnings, and written instructions.
Maintain and organize janitorial closets; ensure they remain locked and compliant with regulations.
Use chemicals safely, correctly, and according to training and SDS guidelines.
Adhere to health, safety, and infection control procedures at all times.
Demonstrate outstanding customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
Support onboarding and training of new team members when required.
Additional Duties for EVS Technician II
Perform high-level, time-sensitive disinfectant cleaning tasks in critical care areas including isolation rooms, emergency department, operative / invasive areas, and terminal cleans.
Complete advanced floor and carpet care tasks (stripping, refinishing, extraction, specialty projects).
Carry out special cleaning projects requiring elevated expertise.
Perform high-level tasks for more than 75% of daily shift time.
Required Skills & Experience
Ability to read, speak, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
Comprehension of job-related documents, safety signage, and emergency instructions.
Ability to recognize urgent or emergency situations and communicate effectively.
Strong teamwork skills with flexibility to meet hospital scheduling needs.
Reliability, professionalism, and strong customer service approach.
Lead-Level Expectation (If Applicable)
Demonstrated leadership ability to guide peers and communicate effectively with staff and management.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Basic computer skills (email, online training modules).
Previous housekeeping experience in healthcare or hospitality settings.
Experience using cleaning equipment such as vacuums, extractors, bovac, and rotary machines.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required.
