Safety Coordinator
Moon Valley Nurseries is seeking a Bilingual Safety Coordinator to cover California locations. This person will present, document, and maintain a log of all safety standards and incidents.
Coordinate monthly / daily safety training. Distribute monthly safety topics to employees conduct / coordinate daily in-field or at-store training with staff.
Otherwise ensure tailgate talks occur at beginning of shifts. Pay Range : $70,000-$80,000 Key Duties and Responsibilities OSHA 500, 510 Certified Bilingual English / Spanish Regulatory compliance experience such as OSHA, DOT, EPA, Dept.
of Agriculture, City Codes Assist in incident investigations Extensive reporting and documentation Presentation and ongoing safety training events Site inspections and field audits Distribute monthly safety topics to employees Provide ancillary training / certification as needed : Safe Lifting Techniques (and other safe work habits) Tools & Equipment Tractors / Trucks Forklifts Site Security First Aid / CPR Hazardous Materials, including pesticides Train on safety policies Present to 50-100 employees Implementing and providing ongoing support for safety training.
Expert knowledge on compliance standards for OSHA, DOT, EPA, City Codes, and Agricultural guidelines Manages and develops departmental staff by mentoring, coaching and developing a solid succession plan.
Coordinate equipment training & inspections, and related documentation Implement & audit new policies and procedures Document and standardize training, along with other duties as assigned Qualifications : Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Safety Training : 3 years (Preferred) Investigation : 2 years (Preferred) Documentation and reporting : 2 years (Preferred) MUST have a clean driving record Must be advanced in MS Office / MS Excel 50-75% local travel, CA Facilitate incident reporting process, including investigation and post-accident drug testing (as needed) Review and analyze incident trending data develop and provide training or other methods to avoid future incidents Provide regular incident / trending reports to region & store managers Coordinate any / all workplace posting requirements DOT / CDL & Employee driving record compliance Education Four-year degree or related field (or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience) Physical requirements / Working conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen.
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
The employee must frequently lift and / or move items over 40 pounds. Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
A company vehicle may be provided, and if not, mileage reimbursements will be made.
