Overview
Regional Sales Manager - Middle US Region — $115,000 - $145,000 Annual Base (DOE) Plus Commission. We are seeking an experienced, travel-capable, assertive individual living within the sales region who takes the lead, drives sales, dictates marketing demands to meet their customers' needs, defines system solutions to customers' problems, does forecasts, writes and closes proposals, stays ahead of the competition, anticipates needs by selling widely and deeply into current and future customers and our customers' customers. Must be thoroughly familiar with government contracting and the time-to-money of DoD contracting. Must be an engineer or equivalent with sufficient embedded system hardware knowledge. Experience with DoD or government service or sold similar products into the USG. Highly technical but convivial and able to travel up to 50% within their assigned territory.
Responsibilities
- Capable of "counselor selling" by technically collaborating with customers to architect embedded systems by matching GMS products and services with customer system-level problems
- Secure design wins for GMS products within the designated territory
- Forecast and achieve sales goals by selling GMS products within the designated territory
- Manage customer-facing activities including backlog disposition and complaints; interface with customers directly in parallel with Reps
- Support Sales Reps with sales orientation, training, and account strategies; assist with territory planning and administrative tasks
- Develop and increase sales revenue to meet targets; create / update forecasts for bookings and design wins
- Maintain sales activity in Salesforce.com (CRM) and produce required reporting
- Quote and proposal creation; work with management on win-capture strategy
- Direct in-house sales staff and outside independent Sales Reps; assist with contract negotiations and marketing plans
- Attend trade shows and customer-specific events; participate in education and training conferences
- Coordinate and lead Sales Reps meetings; stay current on product line strategies and market trends
- Monitor competitive activity and support Reps in acquiring new accounts
- Implement sales policies and troubleshoot product issues with internal stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned
Education And Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experienceFive-plus years of sales experience in technology, hardware, or electronics with at least 3 years field salesStrong leadership and hands-on sales management experienceFundamental knowledge of embedded systems; DoD / government market experience preferredExperience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce); sales training and development experienceExperience managing large territories and diverse product offerings; coaching / mentoring experienceDirect DoD / government or related embedded industry experience requiredQualification Requirements
