The Opportunity :

5x5 is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our small and nimble data engineering team. You will be integral to our development process; designing terabyte scale ETL pipelines, processing and normalizing a wide range of data contributions, and assisting in productionalizing new products.

Key Expectations :

  • You are a strong technologist and problem solver who can run with projects autonomously or without substantial oversight.
  • You can iron out the vagaries of requirements, break the problem down into tractable pieces, and have enough technical knowledge to be able to then implement each of the pieces successfully with minimal hand-holding.
  • You take initiative and demonstrate ownership of your work by driving quality improvements, resolving pages or critical situations, and following through on commitments to deliver great results.
  • You provide regular and proactive updates so people know where their work stands.
  • You mentor or teach other engineers / analysts in your team.

Additional Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Work to improve Co-op data pipelines to ensure repeatable, scalable data processing.
  • Productionalize product MVPs into standard deliverable products.
  • Implement QA processes across the entire co-op data pipeline.
  • Develop an understanding of product requirements and roadmap in order to ensure deliveries meet customer expectations.

    Technical Requirements :

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of success in managing and transforming large datasets.
  • Strong experience with Python, SQL, and relational databases.
  • Experience designing and implementing large scale ETL pipelines.
  • Familiarity with AWS.
