Salary: $160,000 - 225,000 per year
Requirements:
- We want 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant ownership of complex production systems and a track record of delivering high-quality code.
- We want hands-on Rust experience and systems programming depth in areas such as concurrency, memory management, timing, or failure handling.
- We value experience partnering with software and project delivery teams to convert complex customer needs into reliable, maintainable production software.
- We expect the ability to work independently, gather context when needed, and handle technical disagreements constructively.
- We are looking for an interest in mentoring and code review; formal people management experience is not required.
- We expect thoughtful use of AI development tools, with responsibility for understanding, reviewing, and testing the code shipped.
- Experience with BESS, MV UPS, or real-time controls is a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with real-time Linux, industrial protocols, AWS, or React is also helpful.
Responsibilities:
- We design and build production Rust software for our EMS, owning work from technical design through implementation, testing, and release.
- We work directly with project teams implementing customer systems to understand requirements, equipment integration needs, and operational constraints.
- We translate those needs into well-designed, reusable platform capabilities and dependable production code, clarifying tradeoffs and validating outcomes with project teams.
- We improve reliability, performance, diagnostics, and maintainability as our platform expands across more sites and applications.
- We participate in architecture discussions and code reviews, explain tradeoffs clearly, and document decisions others need to understand.
- We help interview and onboard engineers, mentor colleagues, and strengthen shared development practices while remaining primarily hands-on.
- We may also contribute to equipment integrations, our React interface, and our AWS-based monitoring and telemetry portal.

More:
We are an energy technology company advancing the power infrastructure that AI data centers and critical industries depend on. We have built a next-generation software platform for battery energy storage systems and critical power applications, with strong demand, major projects under contract, and a growing pipeline of large-scale opportunities. Our energy management system unifies supervisory control, power plant and microgrid control, optimization, and cloud operations in an extensible platform, and our broader offering includes battery modeling, analysis, and optimization. We serve front-of-the-meter and behind-the-meter storage, solar-plus-storage projects, critical power microgrids, and industrial facilities, with deployments in several countries. We are growing our teams in Austin, Texas and Bend, Oregon, and this role is hybrid, with at least three days per week in the office. Compensation includes a base salary of $175,000 to $225,000 per year depending on experience, technical depth, role level, and location, plus bonus and equity with flexibility in the mix. We currently offer a benefits stipend while a formal benefits package is being established, and relocation assistance is available.
