Position Summary :
The position is looking for a psychologist and education specialist with expertise in socio-emotional development, academic guidance, and community engagement. In support of the study of brain and cognition in children with Type 1 diabetes, this role will be responsible for leading community outreach and participant engagement initiatives, fostering strong relationships with families, schools, and healthcare providers. They will assist with the design and implementation of culturally responsive outreach strategies to promote awareness, recruitment, and retention in the study, while providing psychoeducational and emotional support to participating families. In addition, they will assist with the evaluation and communication with Spanish-speaking families, ensuring inclusivity and accurate understanding of study procedures and assessments. They will help ensure that the outreach and evaluation components reflect cultural sensitivity, scientific rigor, and a strong commitment to community partnership.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience :
Must be familiar with or able to learn HIPPA regulations as they pertain to medical research. Excellent communication (verbal, written and Bi-lingual English / Spanish), interpersonal, organizational, and team-building skills are a must. Professionalism, dependability, and integrity are required as position will be interacting with and reporting to various professionals throughout the Psychiatry department. Knowledge of research principles required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience :
Prior lab experience
Knowledge of involved population of children and their caregivers is a plus.
