PALS certification preferred.\n\nMust-Have : Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.\n\nDescription : \nProvides safe, quality patient care in the intraoperative area.\nAccountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care during the intraoperative period.\nParticipates and maintains a culture consistent with the organization's service and behavioral standards.\nAssesses patient status during the pre-op interview and on a continuing basis.\nProvides safe, therapeutic quality care to patients using the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner and by setting appropriate priorities.\nDocuments interventions and patient responses.\nEnsures provision of patient care in an organized and timely manner.\nUtilizes nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care.\nCommunicates appropriate information regarding patient conditions to those who require the information.\nSafely carries out physician's orders promptly, documenting all activities.\nAssists Anesthesia staff as needed.\nDisplays an understanding of each patient's cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturity in assessments, treatment, and care.\nParticipates in the orientation and training of new employees.\nMaintains competencies to function in the RN role within the specific area.\nProtects sedated and anesthetized patients by identifying safety hazards and minimizing exposure.\nDemonstrates expertise in safety principles, asepsis, sterile technique, and universal precautions.\nAssesses, anticipates, and implements appropriate care throughout the surgical process.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nDemonstrates ability to manage emergency situations calmly and confidently.\nExhibits flexibility and leadership with unscheduled procedure changes.\nOrganizes, prioritizes, delegates, and assigns duties to non-licensed personnel.\nMaintains skills in equipment usage and troubleshooting.\nDemonstrates knowledge and understanding of peri-operative nursing care.\nDisplays evidence of working knowledge of the nursing process.\nPossesses knowledge of basic clinical skills to provide patient care.\nWorks well with providers, clinical staff, and patients.\nManages multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of work.\nAdheres to all policies and procedures, including standards for confidentiality, infection control, and safety.\nParticipates in quality improvement activities, identifying opportunities for cost reductions and efficiencies.\nExposed to patient and environmental conditions and some unpleasant sights, smells, and contagious diseases.
