What you’ll be doing :
- Conduct field reconnaissance
- Plan and supervise field exploration programs
- Perform soil classification
- Plan laboratory testing programs
- Perform geotechnical engineering analysis and computer modeling
- Develop geotechnical engineering recommendations
- Prepare geotechnical engineering proposals and reports
- Support other geotechnical department activities.
What you need to have :
- At least 4-8 years of progressive geotechnical design experience including engineering analysis and experience with management of bridge and roadway projects (VDOT project experience strongly preferred).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external clients.
- Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record required.
- Self-starter with strong project and task management skills.
- An internal leader with the ability to work in a team and meet schedule and budget requirements.
- An external leader with the ability to proactively build relationships and seek out opportunities.
- Ability to continuously sit, stand, and walk
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work outside in frequent changes of temperatures
- Ability to occasionally bend, squat, climb, push, and pull
- Ability to work in environments containing dust and fumes
- Ability to frequently drive to and from work sites, must have valid driver’s license with good-standing driving record
- Ability to occasionally travel overnight
